基金，可以分为场外基金和场内基金。
场外基金，是指每天只有一个净值作为申购赎回的价格，通过股票交易市场外的机构销售的基金。普通开放基金都属于场外基金，一般都是通过银行、证券公司、基金公司等销售。
场外，就是股票市场，也就是二级市场，场内基金就是在股票市场上买卖的基金，如ETF基金、封闭式基金就是只能在场内通过股票账户购买。其他开放式基金只能在场外购买，但LOF基金可以在场内购买。
另外，场内交易的基金，其价格是实时的，也就是说，当时购进的价格是多少就是多少，与股票交易一样。但是，场内基金的交易比股票更具成本优势，场内基金在交易过程中只需要支付券商佣金和赎回费用，而股票交易过程中除了佣金、过户费还有印花税和其他费用。
