一、“外汇保证金交易”是什么意思？
其实，“外汇”指的是外汇保证金交易，是指通过与（指定投资）银行签约，开立信托投资账户，存入1笔资金（保证金）作为担保，由（投资）银行（或经纪行）设定信用操作额度（即20-400倍的杠杆效应，超过400倍就违法了）。投资者可在额度内自由买卖同等价值的即期外汇。总的来说，炒外汇就是一个投资行为。
二、“外汇保证金交易”的特点？
外汇保证金交易是合约交易而不是现货交易，而且没有期限的约定，可以长期持仓。其最大特点是能够以小博大，我们利用其杠杆效应，使得实际交易金额在原来基础上放大几十倍甚至是几百倍。
此外，外汇保证金交易可以双向交易投资，可以看涨也可以看跌；资金进出灵活，随时可以补仓也可以调回资金；24小时连续交易；另外，外汇保证金交易市场几乎没有被庄家操纵的可能，因为全球外汇市场交易量巨大，即使是国际财团抑或一国央行都无法有足够的资本进行操控。
三、“外汇保证金”交易的三大自主交易平台
作为一种投资理财产品，目前我们可以在国内外汇保证金交易交易的银行——交通银行、中国银行、民生银行这三家银行进行交易。不过，我们需要注意的是根据三家银行保证金交易平台各自的交易规则，交通银行“满金宝”和中国银行“外汇保”开户起点均为500美元，民生银行“易富通”起点较高，为5000美元。当然，各平台的杠杆倍数也不一样，“满金宝”有5、10、15、20倍率四种，“外汇保”和“易富通”是固定一种倍率，分别为10倍、30倍。
