金价跌25% 鲍尔森不再投PFR黄金基金

金价今(2013)年以来重挫逾25%、进入熊市,号称黄金多头总司令的对冲基金管理人鲍尔森(John Paulson)终于认输了?彭博社21日引述未具名消息人士指出,鲍森通20日在Paulson & Co.纽约办公室召开的年度会议上表示,他本身已不会再对他所操盘的PFR黄金基金(PFR Gold Fund)投入更多金钱,因为不清楚通膨何时才会上升;未来将保持黄金股票部位不变,而相关选择权则会任其到期。
消息并显示,PFR黄金基金10月份的净值下跌了1.2%。PFR黄金基金今年至11月21日为止已惨跌63%、净值则萎缩至3.7亿美元,其中大多数都是鲍森自身的资金。彭博社曾在10月21日引述该媒体取得的投资报告指出,PFR黄金基金9月净值下挫了16%。鲍森当时在报告中表示,虽然实际的通膨与通膨预期都偏弱,但公司依旧认为未来可能会出现高度通膨。
鲍森过去以来说他是黄金死多头也不为过。根据CNBC报导,鲍森7月中在CNBC、Institutional Investor共同举办的「Delivering Alph」会议上表示,虽然联准会(FED)透过量化宽松货币政策(QE)印了许多钞票,但通膨仍旧不高,而预期通膨会增温而买进黄金的投资人已感到不耐。不过,他坚持,持有黄金的理由仍未消失,长久印钞的确会造成通膨上升,只是确切的时间点难以预测罢了。话虽如此,鲍森还是在今年第2季展开大幅抛售黄金ETF的行动。
MarketWatch、彭博社等多家外电报导,美国证券管理委员会(SEC)8月14日的数据显示,全球拥有最多实体黄金储备量的ETF「SPDR Gold Trust (GLD)」最大投资者Paulson & Co.在Q2期间将持股由前季的2,180万股大砍53%至1,020万股。鲍森当时在一份电子邮件中表示,避险需求降低,是该公司决定减码的主因。
