彭博社8月30日报导，美国铸币局（US Mint）公布的数据显示，8月份鹰扬金币的销售量降至11,500盎司，创下2007年7月以来的6年新低，主要因美股与美元都相对更具吸引力，以及金价今年以来累计仍下跌17%的影响。今年4月，金价下跌曾一度刺激实物需求攀升，当月鹰扬金币的销售量达到209,500盎司。今年1-8月，鹰扬金币累计销售量691,000盎司，除了4月份以外，另外一个单月销售超过10万盎司的是一月份的15万盎司。2012全年，鹰扬金币的销售量则为753,000盎司。
美国鹰扬银币8月份销量则是较前月的440.65万盎司，下降至362.5万盎司；1-8月累计销量为3,307.5万盎司，相比2012全年的销量为3,374.25万盎司。美国铸币局局长彼得森（Richard Peterson）6月5日表示，今年该局金银币的销售量可能创下新高纪录。彼得森预估，今年该局金银币的销售总量很可能达到创新高的4,500万枚，高于2012年的3,500万枚。
世界黄金协会（WGC）的最新报告显示，今年第二季黄金ETF较去年同期减少超过400公吨，但另一方面，金条金币以及首饰的实物黄金需求则分别较去年同期增加221.7公吨与154.7公吨。美国第二季黄金首饰需求量年增2%至20.3公吨、连续第2个季度呈现上扬；同一时间金条/金币需求量年增将近一倍至24.3公吨。欧洲第二季金条/金币需求量年增14%至85.8公吨。
