卢比汇率连续3天创历史新低

华尔街日报(WSJ)19日引述印度政府官员谈话报导，印度已决定自8月26日起禁止个人携带免税电视机入境、希望藉此协助缩小经常帐赤字。印度目前允许在海外停留超过3夜的个人在搭机入境时携带价值不超过35,000印度卢比(相当于553美元)的免税电视机。不过，自8月26日起无论电视机价值高低，带机入境的印度人除了将遭到罚款处罚外、还得再支付35%的税金。
这位不具名官员指出，透过航空公司货机运送回国的电视机将不受影响、依旧支付28%左右的税金。根据印度电子制造产业协会的估计，印度人每年进口约100万台电视机，这些货品多数是自泰国、杜拜、新加坡。印度政府近来采取包括调高黄金进口税、允许银行业提高外币存款利率等多项稳定汇市措施，但到目前为止都还没有看见成效。WSJ 1月7日报导，印度目前经常帐赤字的罪魁祸首是进口原油，但预估到2020年将被进口电子产品(注：预估届时将达3千亿美元)所取代。
纽约时报18日报导，IHS Global Insight亚太首席经济学家Rajiv Biswas形容印度现在是「亚洲病夫(The Sick Man of Asia)」、目前正身陷危机。
英国金融时报报导，根据美国信息技术产业理事会(Information Technology Industry Council)会长Dean Garfield 3月13日在美国众议院岁入委员会贸易小组提出的证词，印度政府准备推行的优先市场开放措施(PMA)要求当地销售的信息科技产品必须是在当地制造。美国信息技术产业理事会是代表苹果(Apple Inc.)、谷歌(Google Inc.)、惠普(HP)等硅谷公司的游说团体。
嘉实XQ全球赢家系统的报价显示，截至台北时间20日下午1时11分为止，美元兑印度卢比升值0.92%至63.710；稍早最高升至64.083、连续第3个交易日创历史新高。今年迄今美元兑印度卢比升值超过16%。
