美联储再次呼吁退宽，美元或“王者归来”
随着有关缩减购债规模的讨论在公众舆论中升温，达拉斯联储主席卡普兰周四（5月27日）表示，房地产市场潜在的过度行为和其他通胀信号可能暗示美联储应开始放缓资产购买。他同时表示，就业市场招聘需求已经比许多人所认为的紧张。美联储近期的态度转变给美元带来了新的动能。周五（5月28日），美指一度刷新九个交易日高位至90.40，日内涨幅扩大到0.45%。
达拉斯联储主席卡普兰就通胀信号提出警告
卡普兰称，房地产市场可能出现的过度行为和其他通胀迹象表明，美联储应该开始慢慢缩减资产购买计划。鉴于美联储每月仍购买至少1200亿美元债券，其中包括400亿美元的抵押贷款支持证券。几位官员曾表示，现在至少应该开始讨论放松以往大举向固定收益市场注资的问题。
周四，卡普兰再次呼吁逐步改变政策。他表示:“与一年前相比，现阶段这些抵押贷款购买可能会产生一些意想不到的后果和副作用，我认为我们需要权衡其有效性。因此，我认为，在我们朝着抵御这场疫情的方向前进的过程中，采取一些克制和适度的做法，将有助于减轻这些过度和失衡现象。”
卡普兰不是制定政策的联邦公开市场委员会(FOMC)有投票权的成员，但他确实参与了该委员会的决策。到目前为止，只有少数美联储官员表示支持缩减资产购买规模。旧金山联储主席戴利在本周稍早时表示，她认为目前的政策很好。然而，随着通胀升温，美联储承受的压力一直在增加。

尽管3月份房屋销售下降，但由于库存减少和激烈的竞争推高了房价，房价大幅上涨。卡普兰指出，购房者现在甚至要与投资者竞争独栋住宅。卡普兰表示，由于抵押贷款利率仍处于低位，美联储现在有能力收回贷款，帮助缓解失衡。
卡普兰表示:“我认为，尽早开始讨论减少我们在危机期间实施的一些购买计划是明智的。我认为，随着我们摆脱危机并取得进展，这种平衡正在发生改变。”
