3月16日，美国公布市场比较关注的2月零售数据，数据结果大幅不及预期，在数据公布后，现货黄金出现小幅度上涨，但随后又回吐了之前的涨幅。本月美国数据受暴风雪天气影响表现较低，但1.9亿美元数据计划落实后，下月数据有望出现良好表现。
具体数据显示，美国2月零售销售月率实际公布-3%，预期-0.5%，前值5.3%；美国2月零售销售年率实际公布-3%，前值5.8%。美国2月零售销售月率录得-3%，创去年4月以来新低。
分析指出，根据最新的信用卡和借记卡月度汇总数据，2月份核心零售销售下滑主要是因为三个因素：1月份的报告受到了个人刺激性支票的提振、退税延迟，以及冬季的暴风雪天气。
前两个因素导致低收入家庭的支出尤其疲软，最低收入群体消费平均环比下滑5.5%。而天气因素削弱了得克萨斯州的消费活动，该州汽车零配件零售销售环比下滑了7.5%。
美国总统拜登11日在白宫签署了经济救助计划。拜登表示，这项总额达1.9万亿美元的“历史性立法”为美国经济重建提供支柱性力量，将给美国人民提供一个“奋斗的机会”。
美国电商零售行业受疫情影响正在发生永久性变化。近日Adobe发布最新报告称，有9%美国消费者在疫情前从未网购过，有47%美国消费者认为疫情促使他们购买了此前从未买过的商品，这些新消费者正在重塑美国电商行业。
自2020年3月以来，美国在线消费增加了1830亿美元，总额达到8440亿美元。但由于大量新用户涌入与美国零售商的准备不足，供应短缺的比例从2020年3月开始上升，在7月达到第一个峰值，并在年底因节假日电商促销而达到顶峰，约5%，是疫情前的4倍。
一般而言，电商的便利性与规模化可以让消费者享受更友好的价格，其数字购买力每年会增长4%，而去年，美国消费者的数字购买力下降了1%。Adobe称，这是美国多年来首次在在线品类中出现通货膨胀。
