7月19日，金价高位回落。因本周全球央行宽松预期支撑金价上涨，临近周末，黄金持仓投资者离场了结获利，之前多仓较多，多头的平仓造成了金价的大幅度回落。
全球央行，尤其是美联储降息的预期推动金价上涨。市场预期美联储将在7月30日至31日的政策会议上将利率降至至少25个基点。
周五美国总统特朗普再度抨击美联储。特朗普给美联储施压要求美联储尽快做出行动。特朗普程，要停止“疯狂”的量化宽松紧缩。美联储威廉姆斯的第一次声明比第二次声明要好。
在周四，两位有影响力的美联储官员公开支持美联储降息的行动，这甚至使得市场开始重新押注美联储月底会降息50基点。

美联储副主席克拉里达称，不希望等到数据变差才采取行动。美国经济处于良好的状态，但前景的不确定性有所增加，在理想的货币政策下，会调整政策以保持经济平稳。
除了美联储，全球其他央行也跟风降息也支撑金价。周四18日，四家央行宣布降息，新兴市场国家抢跑，韩国降息25个基点至1.5%；印尼央行宣布降息25个基点至5.75%；乌克兰央行也将主要利率下调至17%；南非晚间也宣布降息25个基点至6.5%。
下周四（7月25日），欧洲央行召开最新的利率决议，市场预计欧洲央行也将加入降息浪潮。经济学家预测，届时欧洲央行将发出明确信号，推出更多宽松措施。德拉基上个月称，如果经济前景没有改善，他准备加码刺激。鉴于此后的数据喜忧参半，经济学家大多认为，欧洲央行将在7月25日调整政策措辞，说明利率很可能下调。
特朗普表示，一架无人机无视美方多次警告。美军“拳击手号”舰船在无人机靠近至1000码(约914米)时采取了防御行动，并“立即将之摧毁”。美国国防部发言人霍夫曼在随后确认了美军的这次行动，称此举是“为了保护美军舰船和船员的安全”。
分析师解读金价后市前景。工业和贸易服务集团MKS PAMP在一份报告中指出，现在金价突破了1,440美元，而能否站稳1440美元是进一步上涨的关键，如果价格站稳，那么接下来金价有望升至1,500美元。
