美联储利率维持不变，利好美元

分析师称，“即将宣布的新主席提名，似乎让其它多数事情都退居次席”。第三季企业业绩整体高于预期，支撑股市不断创出新高。根据汤森路透I/B/E/S，标普500成份股公司中三分之二已经发布业绩，第三季利润有望增长7%，高于10月初预计的5.9%。
经济数据方面，美国10月制造业活动从13年半高位回落，因与飓风有关的供应受扰带来的一些提振减弱，但仍显示出制造业状况增强。其它数据显示，10月民间就业强劲增长。
