英国大选保守党候选人被指控,危机不断
BBC报道称,英国南赛尼特选区的保守党议员候选人Craig Mackinlay被指控在2015年的竞选活动中超支,违反了英国《1983年人民代表法》中的相关规定。
但Craig Mackinlay本人否认这一指控,他在发表于脸书的声明中称:“我没有做错任何事,在2015年竞选期间行为诚实且得当。”他还对提出这一指控的时间表示质疑,在离大选仅余数日的如此敏感时段提出这一指控的动机令人怀疑。
英国首相梅表示:“保守党继续认为,这些指控是无端的。”“Craig Mackinlay在被证明有罪之前是无辜的,他仍将是我们的候选人。”
7月4日威斯敏斯特区初级刑事法院将开庭审理此案。据BBC内政事务记者Danny Shaw称,若被判有罪,Craig Mackinlay可面临最长一年的牢狱之灾。
其他保守党议员候选人也被调查,但没有被指控。
2015年,Mackinlay击败当时的英国独立党领袖Nigel Farage,当选为南赛尼特议员。对于今日的消息,Farage表示他很高兴,认为保守党在南赛尼特的选情将因此崩盘,转而变为英国独立党和工党之间的竞争。“特蕾莎梅再次判断错误。”他说道。
工党领袖则认为梅对此事发表的言论是干涉司法独立。“在这个国家,我们必须将政治和司法权力完全区分开。”
无论结果如何,这一竞选中的“插曲”都可谓对目前紧张局势的雪上加霜。
英国首相梅决定举行提前大选的初衷在于扩大保守党在议会中的优势席位,以加强其在退欧谈判中的执行权力。然而,最近有民调表明,工党正缩短与保守党之间的差距,大有逆袭之势,甚至可能形成没有一个党派可以获得明显多数选票的“悬浮议会”的结果。苏格兰民族党领袖斯特金今日表示,若悬浮议会成真,她将寻求与工党联合。这对已经颇为忐忑保守党可以算得上是另一个坏消息。
