美国劳工部2月17日报告称，美国1月PPI月率增0.1%，高于预期的-0.2%，12月PPI为-0.2%。因批发机械和设备利润增加，以及1月食品价格涨幅弥补并超过能源价格暴跌，美国1月PPI意外上升。
具体数据显示：
美国1月PPI月率0.1%，预期-0.2%，前值-0.2%。
美国1月PPI年率-0.2%，预期-0.6%，前值-1%。
美国1月核心PPI月率0.2%，预期0.1%，前值0.2%。
美国1月核心PPI年率0.6%，预期0.4%，前值0.3%。
不过，能源价格低迷和美元走强仍抑制通胀水平。
1月食品价格上涨1%，涨幅为去年5月来最大，而12月食品价格下降了1.4%。1月能源消费下滑5%，而12月能源消费下降3.5%。
过去几年，美国通胀一直低迷，而近期油价暴跌使得通胀水平进一步恶化。数据公布前，法国兴业银行资深美国经济学家Brian Jones称，从中期来看，通胀水平触及2%应该是可以实现。
PPI一方面受零售机械和设备价格提振，另一方面也受能源价格和美元走强拖累，通胀表现依然较为迟滞，加上经济前景动荡和股市抛售潮，市场怀疑美联储今年能否加息。
