费城新任主席首秀“鹰姿”尽显
费城联储主席Patrick Harker上周五(12月4日)在就职以来的首次关于货币政策公开表态中称，美联储加息“宜早不宜迟”，以便给将来的渐进上调利率创造条件。他主张美联储在12月加息，且不要拖延。
Harker表示，“我担心的是，若委员会等待更久来启动政策正常化，美联储就有丧失公信力的风险，并给经济状况带来不确定因素。”
他还认为，今年加息有助于减少货币政策的不确定性，并为经济在物价稳定条件下实现可持续增长创造条件。
眼下负责货币政策制定的联邦公开市场委员会正在辩论是否要自2006年来首次加息，目前市场广泛预期他们会在12月15-16日的会议上做出这一决定。决策者们正在寻找劳动力市场接近充分就业且通胀率会升向其2%目标的证据。
尽管57岁的Harker在2017年前没有货币政策投票权，他的看法依然很重要，因其在讨论加息与否的会场中拥有一席之地。
Harker指出，“美国经济基本面一直都在改善，而且我们在接近常态。”他预计今后增速会保持稳定和温和。
今年7月走马上任费城联储主席的Harker此前曾担任特拉华大学校长及宾夕法尼亚大学沃顿商学院院长。他的前任普罗索(Charles Plosser)也主张加息，且一直批评美联储维持宽松的货币政策，普罗索已于今年3月退休。
