英国央行货币政策委员会(MPC)委员麦卡弗蒂周二称，央行在进行金融危机以来的首次升息时，必须避免行动滞后。
“如果央行货币政策委员会要实现逐步升息的计划，并尽可能减少对家庭和企业造成的干扰。我们需要避免落后于中性利率走势。”他指出。
其还表示，“我个人则认为，这相当于为不宜过迟升息提供了更多的理由。”
麦卡弗蒂是当前央行货币政策委员会(MPC)中唯一支持升息的委员。在关于改善企业信贷环境的演讲中，他的立场也没有缓和的迹象。
他表示，随着经济遭遇的阻力变小，中性利率料在2017年以前逐步上升。
