中国央行(PBOC)周二(8月25日)宣布下调存款准备金率和一年期贷款基准利率。其中，金融机构一年期贷款基准利率下调0.25个百分点至4.6%，一年期存款基准利率下调0.25个百分点至1.75%。这也是自去年11月始第五次降息。
中央行宣布降准降息后，中国股指期货大涨，恒生中国企业指数期货上涨3%。MSCI明晟新兴市场指数上涨2.3%至789.65点，之前该指数连续七天下滑，估值跌至2014年3月份以来最低。沙特阿拉伯到匈牙利等国的股市也均获得提振。
同时欧洲股市周二急升逾4%，录得2011年底以来最大单日升幅；美国股市大幅高开，但随后由升转跌。
货币方面，美元指数周二跳升逾1%。跟踪20个发展中经济体货币的指数上涨0.2%，俄罗斯卢布、南非兰特等货币上涨超过1.1%。
