据彭博社报道，希腊总理齐普拉斯只有几个小时来制订出将国家维持在欧元区之中并避免经济灾难的方案，与此同时，该国人民饱受的资本管制之苦进入了第二周。
德国总理默克尔与法国总统奥朗德回应周日希腊公投时表示，“时间不多了。”欧元区财长周二将召开紧急会议，奥朗德称他们的立场“将取决于希腊的建议”。
齐普拉斯与债权人达成协议的机会愈发渺茫，后者坚持希腊政府加税并缩减开支，以此作为给这个欧洲负债最重国家提供新救助的条件。希腊的经济已接近于停摆，为防止挤兑，银行的关闭将持续到周三。

新任财长Euclid Tsakalotos料在行事风格上好斗程度会降低，但他在反对节支问题上与自己的前任持有相同观点，且在齐普拉斯的激进左翼党中背景深厚。Tsakalotos在希腊与债权人最后一轮谈判中扮演了主要角色，那轮谈判在齐普拉斯宣布公投后骤然中断。
