周一纽约交易时段，黄金再次爆出连续惊天大买单，COMEX 6月黄金期货于22:00，22:03，22:05分别成交3232手，5894手，9468手合约，在技术面买家将金价推高到50日移动均线上方后，金价大幅上涨8美元/盎司。随后，10分钟内累积成交24544手，黄金价格迅速奇迹般的突破1200美元关口。
GoldCore的黄金交易研究主管Mark O’Byrne表示：“金价一直处在较低水平，并且已经很长时间在1200美元/盎司附近盘整。”
O’Byrne认为，金价突破1200美元/盎司带来了更多技术面的买盘。他还认为，尽管推动此次金价上涨有好几个因素，但空头回补是主要推动力。
周一金价的上涨使得一些交易员们匆忙空头回补，并且一些期权到期也触发了一些买盘，进一步推动金价的回升。5月黄金期权在周一到期，交易员们表示，大量1200美元/盎司价格的未平仓合约推动了金价的上行。
