联储官员周四对于究竟何时应该开始升息，再度公然意见相左，突显出主席耶伦在今年稍晚某个时候升息一事上难以建立共识。
委员会委员对于拖太久才升息，或太快升息，何者风险较大的看法不相上下，如此一来，似乎最终可能要取决于叶伦的倾向。
此外，对于近来美国经济数据疲弱是暂时现象，还是更加持续低迷的迹象，美联储官员同样看法不一，这使得耶伦对未来两个月出炉的数据的看法格外重要。
耶伦上个月表示，美联储6月会议是逾10年来第一轮货币政策紧缩开始的最早日期。
美联储副主席费舍尔周四强调数据在决定升息具体时间方面的决定性作用。不过他没有透露其认为升息会在何时实施。
“我们将努力在最佳时机行动，希望看到经济开始再次增长，”费舍尔对CNBC表示。
另外三名联储官员对于升息时间的看法分歧很大。
亚特兰大联储总裁洛克哈特称，“暗淡的”数据说明可以再等一等。
我倾向稍晚一些，而不是稍早一些，”洛克哈特称，并预期就业市场疲软的迹象将是暂时的，但要看到更多证据才能确定。
“我认为我们并不会因为选择某个(升息)日期而不选另一个而面临重大风险。因此我并不排除6月加息的可能性，只不过这并非我最青睐的时间。”
波士顿联储总裁罗森格伦在伦敦的讲话则更进一步，称“即便我们等待更长时间，可能也不用特别突然地加息。”
总的来说，这些言论强化了外界的一个印象，即美联储可能将首次升息时间推迟到秋季。这种预期在分析师中已经非常强烈。
但克利夫兰联储总裁梅斯特在纽约指出，虽然第一季经济表现疲弱令她的预期承受压力，但她仍倾向于认为升息会“相对较早”开始，并警告称等太久才升息会令金融市场不稳。
