该项数据高于50表明服务业扩张。
分项指数中，3月服务业新业务分项指数升至58.3，前值57.1。
Markit首席经济学家Chris Williamson在一份声明中表示，“美国经济经历年初放缓后，显现出重获增长动能的迹象。PMI初值报告反映出服务业和制造业活动在第一季末都录得更快增速，就业也进一步好转。”
Markit周二（3月24日）公布的数据显示，美国3月制造业活动小幅加速，创下去年10月来最佳表现。
数据显示，美国3月Markit制造业PMI初值升至55.3，为去年10月来最高水平，预期55.1，前值54.7。分项数据中，3月产出分项指标初值升至58.2，前值为57.3。3月新订单分项指标初值升至56.4，为去年10月以来最高水平，前值为55.8。
此外，3月服务业PMI报告中的就业分项指标升至去年6月以来最高水平。
数据还显示，美国3月Markit综合PMI初值升至58.5，创去年9月以来最高水平，前值57.2。
