周一（3月23日）美国NYMEX 5月原油期货价格收盘上涨0.88美元，涨幅1.89%，报47.45美元/桶，创最近两周以来最高收盘位，收盘前短线反弹逾1.00美元/桶，而盘后交易中则刷新日高至47.61美元/桶，试图上测48.00美元/桶关口。与此同时，ICE布伦特5月原油期货价格收盘上涨0.60美元，涨幅1.08%，报55.92美元/桶，也在尾盘时段跳涨大约1.00美元/桶。
原油市场日内整体上表现出先跌后涨的走势，因为投资者起先受到沙特方面打算维持现有石油产出水平不变的这一利空声明的打压，而随后又将注意力集中到美元走软这一方面来，使得以原油为首的大宗商品市场普遍走强，也带动金银期货走高。
沙特石油部长欧那密(Ali al-Naimi)表示，利雅得方面当前的石油产出大约为1000万桶/日，意味着较2月份产出高出35万桶/日。沙特一直都“冥顽不化”地决定维持产出水平不变，称利雅得方面只可能在非石油输出国组织(OPEC)产油国减产的情况下采取相应措施。
巴克莱资本(Barclays Capital)周一稍早预计，如果OPEC的石油产出维持在当前大约3000万桶/日的水平不变，原油市场供应过剩问题恐怕就会扩大40万桶、至130万桶/日的水平。
