有美联储通讯社之称的华尔街日报记者Jon Hilsenrath撰文表示，美国联邦储备委员会（简称：美联储/FED）正在认真考虑放弃在采取行动前“保持耐心”的承诺，为最早于6月份加息铺平道路。
在3月17-18日召开的美联储下一次会议上，围绕利率指引和通胀前景不确定性的讨论可能成为核心。美联储官员周二进入了会前缄默期，在此期间他们不再就经济或政策公开发表评论。在此之前，联储官员在近期采访和公开讲话中明确表示，希望放弃保持耐心的承诺，他们寻求摆脱后危机时期的宽松货币政策。2008年，美联储首次将基准联邦基金利率下调至接近零水平。美联储在去年12月以来的官方政策声明中称，将在加息前保持耐心。
美联储主席耶伦(Janet Yellen)也曾表示，耐心承诺意味着美联储不会在未来两次政策会议上加息，因未来通胀形势是非常重要的不确定因素，因通胀率并未朝着央行2%的目标水平回升。因此，如果美联储下周移除“耐心”字眼，则将为6月份会议上加息的讨论打开大门。许多投资者认为美联储最有可能在6月或9月加息，美联储官员也支持这一观点。
