南非劳工纠纷问题，导致矿场有关闭之虞，铂金和钯金因此受到威胁；同时锌、锡和铅则可能面临地区短缺的问题。
VTBCapital分析师Andrey Kryuchenkov表示，这样的机会或许短暂，因此投资者必须保持机警，马上锁定获利。
追踪19种大宗商品的汤森路透/核心大宗商品CRB指标.TRJCRBTR，今年已下挫近4%，为连续第三年下跌。分析师和基金经理人表示，在2014年，预计大宗商品表现将再次逊于股市，因股市受益于企业获利强劲。
许多分析师和基金经理人预期南非会有更多的劳资纠纷。南非的铂金产量约占全球的四分之三，主要用来制造珠宝及汽车催化式排气净化器。
