泛美银业扩张墨西哥金矿计划

12月19日报导，原银矿商泛美银业（Pan American Silver Corp.）批准了继续扩张位于墨西哥的La Colorada矿山的计划，该公司希望藉此将目前每年470万盎司的白银生产量，到2017年时候提升770万盎司产量。矿山扩张计划的基本资金投入已经完成，成本约为八千万美元。许多矿业公司由于金属价格下跌但成本升高，纷纷选择把新开发的计划减产或者停产。泛美银业执行长Geoff Burns表示因为小规模的资本投入可以大幅度的提高产量，故La Colorada的扩张计划合情合理。此外，因为该项计划所投资矿山为公司旗下表现最好并且业绩最稳定的矿山，所以风险较低。泛美银业2012全年银产量2,510万盎司。
2013年，泛美银业预估银产量将年增最多100万盎司达到2,500-2,600万盎司，黄金产量预估达14-15万盎司，最多将年增34%。该公司11月7日公布，2012年第三季营收创新高成为2.518亿美元，主要受到销量增加的带动；该公司第三季银产量630万盎司、黄金产量28,162盎司，分别较去年同期增加13%与36%。
泛美银业是全球第二大原银矿商，仅次于墨西哥的弗雷斯尼洛（Fresnillo）（LSE: FRES）。
