機構評美國CPI數據指出，美國11月消費者物價指數升幅高於預期，因運輸服務成本加速上升，但其他行業的通脹壓力仍溫和，因疫情繼續抑制經濟活動。
2021年，美國民眾可能會看到各種行業、各種商品的價格都會大幅上漲，這在一定程度上要歸因於新冠疫苗。即將問世的新冠疫苗可能會導致遭受新冠疫情重創的旅行和體育娛樂活動再度變得活躍，從而拉動需求大增。
對於美國通脹的未來前景，新債王Jeffrey Gundlach表示，美國通貨膨脹率可能在未來幾個月內達到低谷，明年可能升至2.25％至2.4％。
不過外媒對51位經濟學家的調查顯示，經濟學家認為通貨膨脹率可能在明年第二季度短暫升至2％以上，然後在隨後幾個季度再次回落。專家們指出，美國的通脹率很難維持在較高水準，因為缺少了一個關鍵因素：吃緊的勞動力市場。
很多經濟學家表示，即使未來幾個月裏美國的通脹指標看起來一直在上升，但是這在一定程度上只是因為計算原因，並不代表通脹能夠在較長一段時間內加速上行。2021年美國的失業率料將繼續保持在高位，而服務需求的復蘇可能會被租金上漲和二手車等商品的銷量疲軟所抵消。
美國當周初請失業金人數增幅超過預期，原因是新冠肺炎感染病例增加，導致更多企業受到限制，這進一步證明，疫情大流行和缺乏額外的財政刺激正在損害美國經濟。
分析人士認為，由於疫情確診病例再度激增，企業招聘已經放緩，就業增速創5月份以來最低值。未來，隨著更多員工出於對疫情擔憂和因照顧家庭而無法上班，可用員工數量將持續下滑，也將限制就業市場進一步復蘇。
