11月23日，黄金价格出现大面积下跌，由于美元走强，加上好于市场预期的美国企业活动数据以及对于疫苗实验的乐观预期，都提振了投资者对市场经济复苏更快的希望。
周一公布的报告显示，IHS Markit衡量制造业和服务提供商综合产出的采购经理人指数(PMI)从56.3升至57.9。该指数高于50表明经济活动处于扩张状态，这与欧元区形成鲜明对比，后者的企业活动因为政府防疫限制措施而出现萎缩。美国11月企业活动达到2015年3月份以来的最快增长水平，服务提供商和制造商的强劲增长突显在新冠疫情反弹背景下更广泛的经济发展势头。
随着新冠病例加速增长，美国综合PMI有放缓的风险，但是疫苗的积极进展令人们对未来的乐观情绪达到了2014年5月以来的最高水平。强劲的国内销售和订单指标推动招聘活动升高。IHS Markit的服务业PMI升至2015年3月以来的最高水平。相比之下，欧元区服务活动的衡量指标连续第三个月萎缩，至5月份以来的最低水平。IHS Markit的制造业PMI达到2014年9月以来的最高水平，与此同时，欧元区的工厂活动虽然不算强劲，但也连续第五个月上升。
数据公布后，美元指数大幅飙升，盘中一度较日低回升80点，刷新近一周高点至92.80，这削弱了黄金的吸引力。
本周金价可能会跌至1820美元/盎司水平。在那之后，可能做多更好一点。到明年1月2月，金价将能回到2000大关上方，需要有影响因素来将金价推高突破目前区域。
