11月16日，现货黄金出现巨大跌幅，由于疫苗出现新的积极因素，对市场乐观情绪有进一步的刺激，同时美元知识也在低位收窄并反弹。虽然全球最大自贸协定区达成，但仍有更多变数存在。
MODERNA公司报告称，其研制的新冠疫苗在冰箱温度下可维持稳定30天，且不需要现场稀释，三期试验疫苗有效性为94.5%，新冠疫苗总体上是安全的，耐受性良好，副作用包括疲劳、肌肉和关节疼痛和头痛。
全球经济前景似乎变得更明亮了一些，金价盘中急挫逾25美元。辉瑞上周一宣布，根据初步试验结果，旗下实验性新冠疫苗的有效性超过90%，金价当日按收跌逾4.5%。但其疫苗须保存在-70度环境下，全球大规模推广接种面临冷链瓶颈，风险偏好随后有所收敛。
疫苗方面进一步传出正面消息，但投资者仍寄希望于美联储和美国政府能推出新的刺激措施，美国料继续面临利空压制。因为即便疫苗较预期更快推出，疫情给经济造成的伤害也无法轻易复原。
中国国务院总理李克强出席第四次RCEP领导人会议时表示，这(RCEP的签署)不仅是东亚区域合作极具标志性意义的成果，更是多边主义和自由贸易的胜利。不仅将有力推动地区经济整体复苏进程，必将为促进地区的发展繁荣增添新动能，也将成为拉动全球增长的重要引擎。
美国总统特朗普上周日在推特发文短暂承认败选，但之后改口称，他什么也没承认，并誓言将把诉讼战打下去。不过选举法专家称，特朗普不太可能在诉讼中获胜。同时，胜选总统拜登把注意力集中在应对疫情方面，并将与疫苗研发药企会面。
有关美国总统大选的不确定性有所下降，但交易员无法彻底排除这方面的风险。如果下届政府无法尽快展开工作，并采取措施应对疫情，美元可能走强。
拜登在11月3日的大选中击败特朗普，赢下了数个在2016年曾支持特朗普胜选的战场州。拜登还比特朗普多赢得至少550万张普选票，或3.6个百分点，目前还有一些选票尚在清点。
总务署必须正式承认拜登胜选，这对拜登在就职前就收到情报简报并促进与白宫新冠工作组的协调至关重要。克莱因还敦促国会在年底前通过新冠救助法案。有关该救助法案的谈判在大选前就陷入停滞。
