5月22日,现货黄金低位反弹,由于国际关系的再度紧张,支撑了黄金的避险需求,但美元指数的连续走高则限制了金价涨势,同时美国政府以及美联储官员表示美国无需进一步刺激,负利率非正确工具。
最新的国际关系对峙引发新的市场恐慌。恒生指数下跌逾5%,领跌亚洲股市,欧洲股市低开,凸显出投资者的担忧。这不免让人想起此前旷日持久的贸易纷争,一些短线炒家每天都在调整仓位,这让人难以看清趋势,但整体而言黄金看来受到支撑。
美国总统特朗普周四(5月21日)表示,美联储和财政部的武器库中仍有“弹药”,可以给因新冠病毒大流行遭受重创的美国经济提供帮助,尽管他怀疑是否有必要祭出新的举措。特朗普告诉记者:“如果我们需要,火力无限,但我们不需要。”
美国财长努钦周四表示,他认为美国经济将在二季度触底,并在三季度开始改善,四季度经济活动将出现巨大增长,“当经济从停摆状态的低水平回升时,就会出现非常、非常大的增长。所以,我认为你们将会在四季度看到一个非常大的——可以称之为巨大的——增长。”
美联储副主席克拉里达周四表示,联储迄今采取的行动通过放松金融环境为美国经济赢得了时间,不过,如果新冠病毒大流行和相关低迷持续下去,联储的努力可能会受到威胁。
美国失业保险金请领人数3月中开始创下纪录升幅,目前已累计超过了3860万。纽约联储主席威廉姆斯周四称,4月失业率飙升至14.7%,但可以肯定该数据会进一步恶化,然后才会好转。
新冠疫情重创经济造成企业裁员,4月失业金给付增至至少162亿美元,是2月的五倍多。这个数字还是初值,美国劳工部网站上尚没有佛罗里达州和密西根州等六个州的4月给付数据。
尽管金融市场此前史无前例地押注,美联储明年年初存在微弱可能性将利率下调至低于零的水平,但美联储官员结合美国经济的运行情况多次给出了否定观点,也增强了投资者对美元的信心。
