4月13日，现货黄金逼近近7年金价以来的最高位，虽然OPEC+决定检查，但减产力度较低，未能抵消市场担忧，投资者涌向黄金市场避险。而疫情的恶化蔓延让市场对美国经济前景的担忧不断加剧，预计美联储可能推出更多宽松措施，特朗普希望5月初重启美国经济，但专家警告可能会大量增加死亡人数。
冠状病毒大流行严重削弱了全球能源需求，石油输出国组织(OPEC)和俄罗斯等盟友组成的“OPEC+”联盟，经过三天的紧张磋商之后同意减产创纪录规模的970万桶/日。
尽管主要石油生产国同意减产，但投资者仍对消费前景感到悲观，因人员流动受到严格限制，全球经济面临严重衰退，国际油价在亚市早盘快速冲高后逐渐回落，欧洲时段转跌。
航空业可能需要几年时间才能恢复，而如果公司认为，新冠疫情表明可以在家办公的员工比之前想的要多，那么石油需求可能出现结构性下滑。
毫无疑问这项协议意义重大，但它是针对一场全球性经济危机而做出的响应，这场危机对于全球经济的打击在规模和力度上都是前所未见的，油价很快转弱表明，投资者依然对资产前景充满疑虑，避险黄金显然是当前更好的选项。
对于经济将迅速好转的预测过于乐观，除非未来几个月就能获得针对新冠肺炎的治疗方法，“在获得有效的疗法或疫苗之前，这可能是一条漫长而艰难的路。”
此前美国总统特朗普曾表示，他希望5月初尽快重启美国经济。特朗普上周五(4月10日)称，他将在新一周成立一个新的咨询小组，聚焦经济开放的进程。
美国全境实施的停止非必要外出的限制令，给商业活动造成巨大影响，并引发了企业和个人对出行限制能持续多长时间的质疑，现金需求一度火爆。
为此美联储先后采取了多轮紧急措施，大量美元涌入金融系统，解决部分由于美元需求而引起的流动性紧俏问题。美元最近几周总体承压。
据美国商品期货交易委员会(CFTC)上周五公布的数据，截至4月7日当周，投机客的美元净空仓增至2018年5月以来最高的105亿美元。前一周净空仓为99亿美元。投机客美元仓位已经连续第四周净空仓。
