9月18日，现货黄金有所上涨，但整体走势仍处于震荡形态，而在美联储决议公布之前，大部分市场投资者并没有太大的进场交易欲望，都在耐心等待美联储公布的最新消息，为之后的交易做出指引。
市场密切关注稍后美联储决议。周三美联储将于北京时间9月19日凌晨2：00公布9月议息决议。投资者在美联储决议之前采取观望态度。继金融危机以来美联储上次决议首次降息后，这很可能将是该行近期的第二次降息。
在稍后的决议中，投资者需要关注以下几个重点，首先是本次美联储会议是否会降息，其次是美联储的经济预期如何调整，接着是美联储的点阵图显示的接下来的降息路径如何，最后美联储主席鲍威尔如何评级当前美国经济前景。
在议息会议前夕，市场对于降息预期调整较大。根据现在的芝商所美联储观察工具显示，9月降息概率为54.2%，而12月2019年第二次降息概率为83.5%。
交易员们本周大幅增加了对不降息的押注，因为在周一油价大幅度攀升之后，交易员担忧通胀上升会限制美联储降息。且美联储主席在上一次讲话中直言美国经济强劲。
如果美联储今夜没有降息，这势必成为今夜的超级意外事件——金融市场恐将遭遇“狂风暴雨”的洗礼。
分析师表示，“我们预计美联储9月政策会议上将降息25个基点，但相较7月政策声明只会做出小幅调整，美联储或将会强调经济持续增长的基础情境预期，同时通胀也会维持在2%目标水平附近。但值得注意的是，美联储预计会指出利率调整是‘针对全球局势变化以及通胀压力放缓’。”
投资者还需要关注鲍威尔对美联储独立性的解释。美国总统特朗普提名的填补美联储职位空缺的人选谢尔顿周二淡化美联储的独立性，呼吁美联储与白宫更紧密地合作，此举将会颠覆美联储目前的货币政策操作。
除了美联储决议，投资者还在关注日本央行本周的决议。而美联储决议的情况也可能会给日本央行施加压力，日本央行也可能在周四召开的会议上放松政策。
