北京时间22点公布的美国4月工厂订单月率下降0.80%，时隔一个月后再度萎缩，不过好于预期的下降1.0%。美国4月耐用品订单月率终值维持-2.1%不变。
分析师们指出，制造业近期有所萎缩在一定程度上可能源于第一季度库存大幅增加。这意味着，工厂无需生产太多产品就能满足需求。
但今年年初以来的持续疲软状况表明，美国制造业已经受到了贸易摩擦、全球经济走软和美元走强的挤压。美元走强会使美国出口产品在全球市场上变得更加昂贵。
分析师称，美国制造业的数据无法粉饰太平。即便是美国经济没有增长，美国国内需求还不错。但不可否认的是，美国出口需求正趋于疲软。
随着企业清理库存，制造业正在走弱，导致向工厂下的订单减少。美国和中国之间的贸易对峙不断升温，引发了华尔街的抛售，以及全球经济增长不温不火，也拖累了交易活动；
重新出现的贸易紧张局势预计将对出口构成压力，第二季度美国GDP年增长率估计低于2%。第一季度经济增长率为3.2%。
分析师表示，4月耐用品数据显示企业投资疲弱，这是美国经济数据疲软的一个例证。
