发行主体不同
在国内，现货黄金的发行主体是上金所，黄金期货则为上期所，这点与国际市场是一样的，国际现货黄金称为伦敦金，是由LBMA（伦敦金银市场协会）逐渐形成的现货交易规模，至电子交易全球化的各地伦敦金投资市场构成，例如香港地区为金银业贸易场旗下的双A电子盘，拥有伦敦金银交易的权威资质。
平仓模式不同
现货黄金是根据不同投资单位所储备的实物黄金报价，随时调整行情报价，投资者可随时持仓入市，可补足差价换取实物，在国际市场中，由于地理优势以及追求交易效率，一般不设有实物交割流程。黄金期货是根据客户买入或卖出一定交易量的黄金期货，在确定入市后有个相应的结算期限，投资者必须在结算期限到来前平掉电子交易仓位，不可补差价换实物，若期限到来后并未平仓，系统会执行强平，现货黄金无设定结算期限，投资者建仓后，可自由确定平仓时间。
手续费项目不同
黄金期货手续费为每手都要收取，国内平台（上期所）最低设定标准为10元，现货黄金即日成交及平仓是无需支付手续费的，仅是在出现日内未结算仓位时，才需向中立仓支付递延费。国际现货黄金交易无需手续费，仅需按点差扣除后的其中一个报价作为入市方向即可。
