黄金期货不是指数
黄金期货是商品期货的一种，是指以国际黄金市场未来某时点的黄金价格为交易标的的期货合约。而指数是根据某些采样股票或债券的价格所设计并计算的统计数据，其作用为衡量股票市场货债券市场的价格波动。这两者之间存在本质的不同。
黄金指数
目前代表着黄金市场的两个指数分别是在费城股票交易所上市的费城金银指数XAU和美国股票交易所上市的HUI指数（金甲虫指数），两者的区别在于HUI由不从事长于一年半时间的对冲交易的公司组成，因此HUI的避险价值不及XAU。
由于HUI的避险不及XAU，因此，当金价下跌时，往往HUI的跌势会比XAU要大，因此，总体来说，XAU指数要比HUI指数要好。
