据路透社报道，希腊财长瓦鲁法基斯坚称仍有可能在周二偿还IMF欠款前及时达成协议，并警告称，拒绝希腊恳请给予更多时间的请求，可能永久伤害欧元区的信誉。
“这对欧洲来说是可悲的一天，”他在离开布鲁塞尔欧洲理事会总部时说。其他欧元区财长正在那儿开会。
在希腊意外决定举行公投后，该国要求延长纾困计划至周二以后。希腊周二必须向IMF偿还16亿欧元，不然就会违约。
但欧元区其他18国一致拒绝延长纾困的请求，使希腊无法再和欧洲央行与IMF讨论如何应对后续影响。
希腊总理齐普拉斯傲然表示，其政府不能接受债权人提出的“侮辱”条件，并说选民也无法接受。
希腊国会周日批准了齐普拉斯提出的7月5日公投提案。
支持欧洲一体化的希腊反对党派均谴责举行公投的决定。舆论臆测，如果选民在公投时支持救助方案条件，那么齐普拉斯的左翼激进联盟党政府可能必须辞职。
债权人提出的要求希腊削减养老金并提高税额的方式，是齐普拉斯始终认为会加剧希腊经济危机的措施。
许多希腊人既担心经济崩溃，却又想反抗国际债权人的要求。不过周日报纸公布的民调显示，多数人倾向接受纾困条件。
瓦鲁法基斯表示，如果债权人同意改善条件，希腊政府将准备建议选民支持协议。
欧元集团财长在布鲁塞尔聚会，召开原本希望是达成协议的最后磋商会议。欧元集团主席迪塞尔布洛姆称，大门依然敞开。
但在齐普拉斯意外宣布他拒绝债权人的提议，并将于周二的期限后付诸选民公投后，欧元区各国财长纷纷表示，剩下还要讨论的就是“B计划”了–也就是如何限制违约造成的伤害。
