上周因奥巴马和国会议员们圣诞节休假，而停止了财政悬崖的谈判。奥巴马计划本周四回到华盛顿，上周众议院未能通过博纳提出的B计划后，市场的焦点开始转到美国参议院。预计奥巴马或将转而求助国会的的民主党盟友，参议院多数党领袖里德(Harry Reid)有助于快速达成财政悬崖解决协议。美国国会预算办公室(CBO)预测，届时美国人会看到政府削减服务开支；一些联邦政府工作人员将被迫休假或被解雇，企业也将因此失去政府采购业务，预计美国或将失去三百四十万个工作岗位。
