希腊被债市拒之门外，且救助资金也遭冻结，该国即将耗尽资金，无法应付各类支出。希腊下月必须向国际货币基金组织(IMF)偿还四笔共计16亿欧元的贷款，第一笔是6月5日到期的3亿欧元贷款，市场预计该国将因现金耗尽而无力偿还这笔贷款。
欧洲稳定机制(European Stability Mechanism,ESM)负责人雷格林(Klaus Regling)周二(5月26日)在接受采访时称，希腊与债权人就改革达成一致的时间正在耗尽，若无法达成协议，希腊政府将无法获得更多救助资金。
