贵金属双向交易被称为“先卖出后买入交易”，是指客户将账户贵金属交易为卖出交易，然后在卖出的账户贵金属数量内再做部分或全部买入交易的交易，是在现有先买后卖的基础上新增了先卖后买的交易方式。有了账户的先卖后买，客户能够在涨跌获利不踏空。当客户判断贵金属价格将下行时，通过先卖出后买入的交易方式获得投资收益，摆脱了过去只有价格上涨投资者才能获利的局限，该产品适合具有一定的交易经验、风险偏好较高、对贵金属市场有一定认识的个人投资者。
在贵金属交易中，交易者既可以选择买入贵金属合约作为交易的开端，也可以选择卖出贵金属合约作为交易的开端，也就是通常所说的买空卖空。
双向交易是就单项交易而言的，不仅能先买入再卖出（做多），而且可以先卖出再买入（做空），这样在价格下跌的过程中，投资者可以通过做空来增加盈利的机会。也就是说，无论价格涨跌都有机会赚钱。
