1、 注意资金管理，适当建立头寸，建立头寸是指开盘，就是买进黄金的意思，交易员须选择适当的价位以及适当时机买进黄金，因入市时机好的话，获利的机率也随之增大，相反地若入市时机不当，就容易发生亏损。关于新手炒黄金，建议把个人资金分成6~8份，每次只需其中一份即可，随着自身炒金经验不断积累，提高了投资准确率以后，再慢慢加大自身的黄金仓位，但要注意，不论投资哪个品种，该品种的持仓额度不能超过个人总资金的50%，否则遇上失误以后，很难翻本。
2、 注意何时砍仓，砍仓为突然遭遇现货黄金价格下跌时，采取的平仓措施，以防止亏损额度过大，也就是鳄鱼法则中的割肉离场，最错误的做法是交易者仍认为金价会回升而坚持等待，这样的话但金价直线下滑时，交易者面临的亏损空间更大。
3、 掌握获利时机，通常获利时机比较难以让交易员掌握，一般最常见的做法是，在交易员建立头寸以后，当金价朝着对自己有利的方向发展时，平仓了就可以获利。而我们选择的国际现货黄金的价格变动有时异常剧烈，让人难以抓摸走势，往往会出现平仓太快或滞后的情况，平仓过早导致获利有限；平仓滞后则延误了获利时机，所以，关注好入市点位后再确立止盈止损十分重要。
4、 切忌在行情不明朗时入市，由于国际现货黄金市场是一个可以双向交易的市场，采用杠杆式保证金交易，故盈利与风险有着天生一对的共存性，因此在双向的交易模式中，一旦出现对上涨行情有利的消息或巨额买单的出现，众多空单将马上平仓并发生空头回补，导致国际金价大幅飙升，故金价短期内的波动幅度是非常的大，所以一定要非常准确且迅速地看准国际现货黄金的入市时机，而在经历大的现货黄金行情以后，一般会进入回调，回调并没有立刻的行情指引，此时入市的话，被套的可能性会相当大。
