11月18日，現貨黃金在附近震盪下行，波動至近日以來的最低點，由於疫苗試驗成功帶來的樂觀情緒，抵消市場對感染病例激增的擔憂，市場對美元更有興趣。
輝瑞週三表示，該公司新冠疫苗試驗最終結果顯示，其疫苗的成功率為95%，且有兩個月的安全資料，為該公司在幾天內申請美國緊急授權鋪平了道路。
分析師表示，疫苗取得積極進展降低了黃金作為安全避風港的吸引力。儘管它似乎仍處於交投區間，大幅上漲似乎已經結束，疫苗似乎進展很快，還有其他幾種疫苗正在實驗中……這將有助於全球經濟復蘇，並對黃金形成淨利空。但與此同時，我們尚未脫離困境，需要更多刺激措施，這似乎提供了一些支撐。
不過美國參眾兩院有關刺激方案規模的立場仍相差甚遠，眾議院議長佩洛西和參議院民主黨領袖舒默昨日曾致信麥康奈爾呼籲他本周參加談判。但麥康奈爾週三嘲笑了佩洛西和舒默認為應作為談判起點的民主黨2.4萬億美元方案。麥康奈爾在參議院發言稱，“問題在於他們的方案是一個數萬億美元的笑柄，從來沒有機會成為法律。”麥康奈爾重申他的要求，即任何刺激方案都應該是“定向的”，並且規模應在5000億美元左右。
黃金市場缺乏上行推動力，而通脹預期的走弱使得金價承壓，因為美國財政刺激顯然不會像之前預期的那麼大規模。
