據世界黃金協會計算，黃金場外交易量創新新高，而黃金ETF市場也呈現出比較繁榮的鏡像，日均交易量達到10億美元，總體來說，全球的黃金投資市場日均交易量在1000億美元至2000億美元之間。
黃金在收益率、波動和與其他資產相關性方面的優異表現凸顯了這一差異。綜上所述，與僅僅包括單一的、涵蓋廣泛類別的大宗商品配置的投資組合相比，黃金的這些特徵能更有效地分散風險；在不降低長期預期收益率的前提下，配置或補充配置黃金頭寸可以降低風險。具體而言，2%至10%的黃金戰略配置可以顯著改善和保護投資組合的表現，同時提供大宗商品投資的敞口。

在美聯儲此次降息25個基點後，中期黃金市場或因此受益，獲得支撐。從美國10年期債券收益率指數來看，如果其回到50日均線下方，那麼黃金會受到進一步的提振；當然，黃金的表現還要看美元。美元指數目前遠高於50日均線，不過Droke認為，四季度美元將走弱，對黃金來說，這會是個好消息。
分析師認為，黃金的上漲趨勢仍在，他預計金價長期將走高；在美聯儲採取比預期更為強硬的立場後，金價繼續顯示出強勁的勢頭.
美聯儲的經濟預測顯示，到2020年不會再降息，到2022年不會加息。美聯儲主席鮑威爾幾乎沒有透露利率未來走勢的細節，他指出，美聯儲將根據經濟的變化調整貨幣政策；黃金市場的反應表明，黃金並不需要美聯儲採取鴿派立場才能走高。貿易糾紛、英國脫歐的不確定性以及目前中東緊張局勢升級等問題將繼續長期支撐金價，無論美聯儲採取何種行動，地緣政治風險都將使金價繼續上漲。
