6月4日，現貨黃金創新三個月高位後有所回落，因為美元隨著美債收益率而反彈，但市場對美聯儲近期降息的預期持續升溫，美國多個領域捲入貿易摩擦，市場避險情緒高漲，並引發對全球經濟衰退的擔憂，金價漲勢預計還會持續一段時間。
指標10年期美債收益率隔夜跌至2017年9月來最低水準的2.059%。公債收益率下跌表明投資人對於未來將發生什麼懷有疑慮。美國第二季的經濟增長預測已經調降至遠低於2%的水準。
墨西哥週一表示，在本周與特朗普政府的會談中，如果美方提出讓其接收所有尋求美國庇護的中美洲移民的想法，該國將予以拒絕。
美國政府之前威脅，如果墨西哥不打擊非法移民，將從6月10日起對所有墨西哥輸美商品徵收關稅。這一威脅上周給本已因全球貿易緊張對峙而走勢掙扎的全球市場又一重擊。
嚴重依賴對美出口的墨西哥經濟今年首季出現萎縮，並將因美國關稅而進一步受創。根據特朗普的計畫，關稅稅率最初為5%，之後可能逐步上調，最高達25%。
美國總統特朗普意外宣佈對墨西哥商品加征進口關稅，不僅可能重創投資和企業信心，也表明美國政府主戰立場將保持下去。美聯儲遲遲不願就全球貿易緊張局面做出回應的猶豫態度，可能已隨著這個新發展受到徹底打擊。
美國聖路易斯聯儲主席布拉德週一表示，鑒於全球貿易緊張局勢以及美國通脹疲弱對經濟增長構成的風險不斷上升，美國可能很快就需要降息。
美聯儲的回應不會立即到來，鮮有分析師預計美聯儲會在6月18-19日的下次會議上降息。美聯儲將在6月份會議上再次考慮利率政策，併發布最新的經濟預測。
美聯儲理事佈雷納德最近發表評論稱，如果貿易政策導致物價出現投機性的上漲，有可能令美聯儲更接近或高於其2%通脹目標，並讓聯儲能夠釋出其將容忍物價更快速上漲的信號。
但特朗普政策反反覆覆的環境，讓美聯儲一直難以解讀。去年的減稅舉措以及政府赤字增加，帶動經濟增長強於預期，美聯儲在一段時間內也維持更加積極的升息步伐。
目標利率區間仍維持於相對較低的2.25-2.5%，而美聯儲目前可能不得不將降息“彈藥”用來抗擊貿易摩擦的影響。美聯儲即將於6月召開的會議，將是對貿易摩擦加劇如何影響美聯儲內部意見的首次檢測。
