親歐政黨為議會多數，提振英鎊，但脫歐僵局仍在

5月27日，雖然親歐政黨有所分裂，但仍佔有歐洲議會多數席位，受此消息影響，英鎊短線上漲，不過英國無協議脫歐的風險上升，目前英鎊仍不被看好，看空呼聲較高。
5月27日公佈的歐洲議會選舉官方初步結果顯示，承諾強化歐盟的政黨獲得歐洲議會三分之二的席位，儘管極右翼和民族主義政黨的席位大幅增加。
法國總統馬克龍個人遭受打擊，他賭上自己的總統寶座，竭力勸說歐洲人相信歐盟是應對世界經濟不確定及全球化挑戰的解決之道。馬克龍團隊的一位官員承認投票結果“略令人失望”，出口民調顯示，馬克龍率領的“前進運動黨”僅以22%得票率位居第二，落後於勒龐所屬政黨“國民陣線”的24%。位居第三的政黨是綠黨，親歐政黨仍佔據多數。
但馬克龍的歐洲復興計畫在歐盟範圍內增強了自由黨派的力量。歐洲議會公佈的初步結果顯示，由於綠黨席位跳升，這意味著佔據親歐盟中間力量的四個黨團失去不到20個席位，在751個席位中獲得505席。
在此次議會競選中，投票率從2014年的43%上升到51%，歐盟官員對感到高興。這是自1979年歐盟首次直接投票以來，投票率下滑的趨勢第一次出現逆轉。此次20年來最高的投票率，或可消除外界對“民主赤字”破壞歐盟立法機構權威的議論。
德國總理默克爾保守陣營支持率比五年前下滑了七個百分點，極右翼的德國“新選擇黨”支持率上升4個百分點至11%。但在德國佔據頭條新聞的是綠黨，該黨支持率幾乎倍增至21%而位居第二，僅次於社民黨。
歐洲議會預測人民黨料贏得179席，領先社民黨的152席；自由黨料增加36席至105席，綠黨則料增加17席至69席。極右政黨方面，目前歐洲議會中的兩大政黨料總計拿下111席，比2014年增加40%。
英鎊兌美元27日一度微幅漲至1.2753高點，此前在英國首相特雷莎·梅宣佈下臺時間表後已收復一些失地，自四個半月低點1.2606出現反彈。但是，“無協議脫歐”的前景很快成為特雷莎·梅潛在繼任者的主要挑戰，八位候選人中已有四位表示，英國必須在10月31日離開歐盟，即便這意味著英國或無協議脫歐。
