可以用于投资的贵金属种类比较多，且均为贵金属的金融衍生品，市场上最常见的贵金属投资品种有：现货黄金、现货白银、伦敦金、期货黄金、纸黄金等，因品种不同各自交易方式大同小异。在各贵金属投资中，我们经常可以听到“空单”和“多单”这两个专业术语，因为贵金属投资可以双向操作，所以我们在选择贵金属交易之前必须要学会“空”和“多”分别代表什么意思。
一、双向操作原理：贵金属投资是采用多空双向交易机制，是指在贵金属交易中，交易者既可以对行情买涨作为贵金属交易的开端，也可以对行情买跌作为交易的开端，也就是说，无论贵金属的行情价格是涨是跌，投资者都有机会赚钱。
二、空单：之前介绍完贵金属的双向操作原理，那么，在贵金属中空单的意思就是，指在贵金属交易中，投资者看跌贵金属未来的行情发展，继而下单的过程，我们把看跌行情的这个单子称为空单。空单的获利形式为行情跌，空单盈利；反之，行情涨，空单亏损。
例如：投资者在伦敦金是1300价位的时候买入，认为后市行情会继续下跌，此时，若价格跌至1295的时候平仓，获利为：1300-1295=5美元（买入价减去卖出价）。
三、多单：与空单是相反的操作，指在贵金属交易中，投资者看涨贵金属未来的行情发展，继而下单的过程，我们把看涨行情的这个单子称为多单。多单的获利形式为行情涨，多单盈利；反之，行情跌，多单亏损。
例如：投资者在伦敦金是1300价位的时候买入，认为后市行情会继续上涨，此时，若价格涨至1305的时候平仓，获利为：1305-1300=5美元（卖出价减去买入价）。
贵金属投资是非常具有灵活性的，而且操作简单，免去像股票投资一样要筛选的烦恼，因此，无论是多单还是空单，只要投资者选对方向，都有获利的机会。
