经济数据疲软以及欧洲央行官员的鸽派言论，增加了市场的恐慌情绪，市场并未因欧洲央行3月鸽派预期而抛售欧元，欧元则作为低息融资货币被市场购回。对于欧洲央行3月的QE预期，摩根大通的分析师认为在3月份会有更多的宽松措施推出。该行预计欧洲央行3月份将下调存款利率至-0.5%，而此前预期为-0.4%。预计欧洲央行最早在6月份下调存款利率至-0.7%，并延长QE时间至2017年底。周二经济数据方面，当日市场关注的德国数据表现不佳。其中市场最为关注的德国工业产出数据表现不及预期。具体数据显示，德国12月工业产出月率-1.2%，预期0.5%，前值-0.3%；年率-2.2%，预期-0.6%，前值0.1%。德国12月季调后工业产出月率下降1.2%，创今年以来最大跌幅。
