掌握建立头寸、斩仓和获利的时机
“建立头寸”是建仓的意思。就是买进黄金的行为。选择适当的金价水平以及时机建立头寸是盈利的前提，如果入市时机较好，获利的机会就大。“斩仓”是在建立头寸后，突遇金价下跌时，为防止亏损过高而采取的平仓止损措施。有时投资者不认赔，而坚持等待下去，希望金价回头，这样当金价一味下滑时会遭受巨大亏损。
“获利”的时机比较难掌握。在建立头寸后，当金价已朝着对自已有利的方向发展时。平仓就可以获利。掌握获利的时机十分重要，平仓太早，获利不多;平仓太晚，可能延误了时机，金价走势发生逆转，不盈反亏。
掌握“金字塔”加码时机
“金字塔”加码的意思是，在第一次买入黄金之后，金价上升，眼看投资正确，若想加码增加投资，应当遵循“每次加码的数量比上次少”的原则。这样逐次加买占用的资金会越来越少，就如“金字塔”一样。因为价格越高，接近上涨顶峰的可能性越大，危险也越大。
在买入或卖出黄金后，遇到市场突然以相反的方向急进时，有些人会想加码再做，这是很危险的。例如，当金价连续上涨一段时间后，交易者追高买进了该种货币。突然行情扭转，猛跌向下，交易员眼看赔钱，便想在低价位加码买一单。企图拉抵头一单的金价，并在金价反弹时，二单一起平仓，避免亏损。这种加码做法要特别小心。如果金价已经上升了一段时间，你买的可能是一个“顶”，如果越跌越买，连续加码，但金价总不回头，那么结果无疑是恶性亏损。
正确分析走势很重要
当感到金市走势不够明朗，自己又缺乏信心时，以不入场交易为宜。否则很容易做出错误的判断。黄金投资中，有时会为了强争几个点而误事，有的人在建立头寸后，给自己定下一个盈利目标，比如要赚够200美元或500人民币等，心里时刻等待这一时的到来，有时价格已经接近目标，机会很好，只是还差几个点未到位，本来可以平仓获利，但是碍于原来的目标，在等待中错过了最好的价位，坐失良机。
正确的分析金价走势是盈利的重要前提，而控制风险则是盈利的必要手段，投资者在入场操作前，需心中有数，才能在关键点位做出正确选择，最终得以获利。
