首先，要学会资金控制。资金如何分配关系到心理承受能力，仓位如果过大或者满仓操作，一旦趋势逆转，亏损加大，心理压力也会加大，往往不能仔细地分析行情走势，从而造成操作失误。此外，交易资金占个人和家庭财产的比例不宜很大。
其次，要有计划性。逢低做多、逢低做空、逢高做多、逢高做空等操作方法的采用，应在操作前做好计划，并且要严格执行计划。下单要果断，判断要有己见、不能人云亦云，还要及时止损和止盈。留得青山在，不怕没柴烧，所以要及时止损。止盈不光是指见好就收，还要思考点位并选择平仓时机，不是每一单都必须赚钱的，获利前至少做到炒黄金保本。
某种程度上，延期交易的杠杆倍数越高，风险也越大，越容易出现亏损金额大于初始保证金投入的情形，这也是为什么仓位不宜过大的原因。当投资者收到追加保证金的通知时，最好及时追加，不然将被强制平仓。
从黄金作为商品的市场供需基本面看，目前全球黄金持有量大约为16.6万吨。由于黄金几乎不会被毁坏，而且实际的黄金消耗等于零，因此黄金不会像石油或其他原材料一样越用越少。然而，由于许多黄金储量并不能进入黄金市场，因此每年的供需状况对价格有很大影响。
在经济不振，特别是对纸币的信任出现动摇时，黄金的货币属性尤其具有吸引力。事实上，近几年来金价大幅上涨，在很大程度上可以归因于其作为避险货币的特性。与其他任何货币一样，黄金实际上也有多种价格。有研究指出，无论以哪种主要货币来计价，长期以来黄金价值都保持了相当的稳定性。
