黄金及其制品的纯度叫作“成色”，市场上的黄金制品成色标志有两种：一种是百分比，如G999等；另一种是K金，如G24K、G22K和G18K等。我国对黄金制品印记和标志牌有相关规定，一般要求有生产企业代号、材料名称、含量印记等，无印记为不合格产品，国际上也是如此。但对于一些特别细小的制品，可以允许不打标记。
而“K金”则表示黄金纯度。国家标准规定，每“K”含金量为4.166%。譬如：12K=12×4.166%=49.992%(500‰)；18K=18×4.166%=74.998%(750‰)；24K=24×4.166%=99.984%(999‰)。24K金常被人们认为是纯金，但实际含金量为99.98%，折为23.988K。
