一、伦敦金价格波动幅度大，容易亏损
伦敦金没有涨跌限制，每日的价格波动幅度较大，最大可能达到几十美元，小的时候也有十美元左右，平均起来一日的波动大概有二三十美元，加上交易杠杆的作用，一日的利润高达两三千美元。此外，伦敦金日内的波动幅度也是时刻不同的，如在亚盘时刻，交易量清淡，行情波动幅度小，而在美盘时段，交易量激增，行情波动剧烈，如若遇上重要的经济数据，更是可能遇到几分钟内跳水十几二十美元，很多有经验的投资者都曾在这种情况下尝试过爆仓的损失。
然而对于新手，由于刚刚开始进入市场，投入的资金量不会太多，在遇到金价大幅跳水的情况下，没有足够的资金对抗风险，很容易爆仓。另外，由于新手对市场走势的把握度还不够高，很容易出现判断失误的情况，如果持仓过夜，在没有盯盘的时间内，很容易遭到无法挽回的损失。
二、持仓过夜有仓息，扩大成本

因此，对于炒金新手而言，做短线捉住当前的收益会比等待未知的长线收益要好。尤其是对于有杠杆的伦敦金市场，每日能捕捉到5美元左右的盘面收益，一个月下来的总利润也是十分可观的。
