另外，达拉斯联储总裁费希尔表示，美联储不应只因为最近股市下跌就考虑启动新一轮刺激。他说，“现在考虑又一轮量化宽松为时尚早，市场修正并不意味着经济出问题了。”
美国9月零售销售和生产者物价指数双双回落，提醒人们谨慎看待美国经济表现，同时也进一步加剧了金融市场对全球经济成长停滞不前的担忧。美国商务部周三公布，占消费者支出三分之一的零售销售9月回落0.3%，为1月以来首次下滑，8月为增长0.6%。9月生产者物价指数按年增长1.6%，为六个月来最低年增幅，较8月增幅减少了0.2个百分点。另外一项数据显示，美国8月企业库存录得去年6月以来最小增幅。
