欧洲央行总裁德拉吉5月26日表示，央行必须“特别警惕”欧元区物价螺旋式下行的风险。他指出，央行不接受通胀在过长时间内保持在过低水平，对通缩保持高度警惕，随时准备采取有针对性的常规举措加以应对，且全面资产购买计划仍是选项之一。此外，他警告信贷需求反弹的速度可能会快过银行修补资产负债表的速度，可以发展出新的资本市场来弥补银行放贷的不足。“在这样的情况下，如果定期资金的可获得性成为贷款发放的一个限制因素时，那么货币政策可以扮演桥梁作用，”他的讲话暗示欧洲央行可能会动用旨在向银行提供资金帮助向企业或家庭放贷的长期再融资操作(LTRO)，或购买资产支持证券(ABS)来支持银行的贷款发放。
