美国政府昨日公布的数据显示，数据显示截至5月15日当周，中国棉纺厂和商家买入269,300包陆地棉，创两年来中国单周最大陆地棉购买量，增强了外界对中国需求复苏的预期，而且引发近月棉花供应趋紧的担忧。中国是全球最大棉花消费国。受此消息带动，纽约期棉在周四早盘的热闹交易中最高上涨1.5%，随后走势反转，略微下跌。
美国一周出口销售报告远高于预期，这使美国有望在7月30日结束一季的出口量高于政府预估。中国购买的美国棉花在后者的出口销售中占据很大比例。
