美联储主席耶伦于当地时间4月16日在纽约经济俱乐部发表演讲，或将就何时升息给出线索。4月9日美国联邦公开市场委员会(FOMC)会议记录表明，央行官员并不急于在购债计划于今年稍晚结束后马上收紧政策。
Lombard Street Research分析师DarioPerkins指出，美联储将以多快速度撤出史无前例的货币刺激政策，是全球经济面临的最迫切问题；若联储有任何差错，将带来巨大风险。
“如果美联储一如其预估中所暗示维持宽松政策，可能引发新的资产价格泡沫，”他在研究报告中写道。“加快退场或许能降低这一风险，但FOMC和市场看起来都还没做好准备。”
美国3月零售销售数据或许有助于判断，美国第一季末的经济力道如何。
而就业和汽车销售等数据已表明经济相当强健，支持了第二季美国经济增长加速的观点，也进一步印证了第一季增长放缓缘于冬季严寒天气的说法。
定于4月15日出炉的美国消费者物价数据亦将受到密切关注，尤其是在上周五美国生产者物价指数(PPI)意外高涨之后。
持续的低通胀经常被用来当做美联储将维持利率水准直到明年底的一个理由。
